Child among six killed as fire breaks out in hospital in Tamil Nadu's Dindigul

At least six people, including a boy, were killed in a fire at a private hospital in Tamil Nadu's Dindigul on Thursday evening.

The incident took place at City Hospital on Trichy Road.

According to news agency PTI, a preliminary investigation by police suggested that a short circuit at the medical facility was the cause of the fire.

TV footage showed fire and smoke pouring from the building as fire engines were called in to douse the flames.

With the exception of the six people who died, all patients at the hospital were brought to safety, sources said.
