Bhopal:
The principal of a school in Chhatarpur in Madhya Pradesh has been shot dead by a student.
Surendra Kumar Saxena, 55, the principal of Dhamora Government Higher Secondary School, was found dead in the bathroom. He was director of the school for almost five years.
According to sources, the student who allegedly shot him followed him into the bathroom and shot him there; he was shot in the head. The shot threw the school into panic and, awakened by the gunshot, the staff rushed to the principal's office and found him lying in a pool of blood.
The suspect, a student of class 12, reportedly fled the scene on Mr Saxena's two-wheeler. According to Agam Jain, superintendent of police, a second student fled with him. The students, both of whom have a history of indiscipline, are residents of Dhilapur village and were seen on CCTV escaping.
Mr Saxena's family believes this was a premeditated murder. His brother, Rajendra Saxena, said, “Some persons in the school were putting unnecessary pressure on him and harassing him to commit illegal acts. This murder appears to be part of a planned conspiracy.”
Police have launched an investigation and forensic teams have been deployed.
