Jaipur:
A BJP leader, who was hoping to win a party ticket in the upcoming Assembly elections in Rajasthan, faced embarrassment after a banner he put up had a photo of Congress leader CP Joshi instead of his namesake, who heads the BJP. unity of the state. The banner, under the party’s booth-level campaign, was displayed on an auto-rickshaw which attracted people’s attention after which it was removed.
It included photos of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president JP Nadda and Congress’s Rajasthan Assembly Speaker CP Joshi.
“I got some banners printed by a printing press, but by mistake the photo of Congress’s CP Joshi was printed on them instead of BJP’s CP Joshi. I wasn’t here for two days. Today, two such banners were displayed on auto-rickshaws,” said Ramesh Kumar Koli.
“When I came to know about this, I removed them,” added Mr Koli, who is seeking a party ticket from the Reodar seat in Sirohi. BJP’s Jagsi Ram is the sitting MLA from this seat.
BJP’s CP Joshi, who was appointed state party chief in March this year, is the Chittorgarh MP, while Congress’s CP Joshi is the Nathdwara MLA and Speaker of the Assembly.
Taking a jibe at the BJP, local Congress leader Bhawani Singh Bhatana said that BJP’s CP Joshi has failed to create an identity for himself outside his area and not all his party workers know him in the state.
