Bhopal:
The horrible death of an 11-year-old hearing and speech disorder in Narsinghgarh (Rajgarh), Madhya Pradesh, has again asked serious questions about the judicial system with which repeated rape organizers can run free. The accused, Ramesh Singh, has a horrible history of crimes against minors, but was repeatedly acquitted by the courts.
A trace of crimes, a broken system
Rameh Singh, a resident of Dabripura in Polaykala, raped a 5-year-old girl in 2003 in the Mubarikpur village of Mubarikpur in Shajapur. He was sentenced and sentenced to 10 years in prison. But after he had served his sentence and was released in 2013, he struck again.
In 2014 he kidnapped an 8-year-old girl in Ashta (Sehore) and rapidly raped. This time the lower court sentenced him to death.
In 2019, the High Court destroyed the judgment on technical grounds and stated that the father of the victim was present during the identification parade, which could have influenced the results.
This decision gave Ramesh another chance to run free. Another innocent child paid the price.
The Horror of February 2025
In the night of 1-2 February, an 11-year-old deaf and stupid girl was missing in her house in Narsinghgarh. The next morning she was found in the bushes, her body with brutal injuries. A medical examination confirmed the attack. As her condition deteriorated, she was rushed to the Hamidia hospital in Bhopal, where she died on 8 February.
The police, who acted as the complainant, started an intense investigation.
CCTV images of 136 cameras at 46 locations were investigated. A suspect in a red scarf and blue-black sport shoes was spotted hanging around in the vicinity of the crime scene and was later identified as Ramesh Singh. An automatic driver confirmed that he had traveled from Kurawar to Narsinghgarh.
After his escape, the police followed him to prayagraj, where he had gone for a Maha Kumbh bath. He was finally caught on a train to Jaipur.
The chase included 16 police teams, 75 employees, including 9 stations inch loading.
Rajgarh SP Aditya Mishra said that the police have formed a special investigation team. “The evidence is thoroughly verified. Given his mode operandi, we perform DNA profiling and cross to determine whether it is linked to unresolved cases. There is also a spice where necessary.
