“Great stuff here brother,” Johnson wrote in response to Rogan’s post. ‘Perfectly articulated. I look forward to stopping by one day and breaking out the tequila with you.”
Author Don Winslow tweeted Johnson about his support.
“You are a hero to many people and using your platform to defend Joe Rogan, a man who used the N-word dozens of times and laughed at it, is a terrible use of your power,” Winslow wrote. “Have you really listened to this man’s many racist statements about black people?”
Johnson — whose father, wrestler Rocky Johnson, was Black — responded to Winslow’s writing: “Thank you so much for this.
“I hear you and everyone here 100%,” the tweet continued. “I wasn’t aware of his N-word usage before I made my comments, but now I’ve been trained to his full story. Learning moment for me.”
“I know for most people there’s no context where a white person is ever allowed to say that, let alone publicly on a podcast, and I agree,” he said.
