E-commerce Gigant Flipkart announced on Monday that it created more than 2.2 Lakh seasonal employment to meet the requirements during the India festive season. The jobs will be created in various segments, such as supply chain, logistics and last-mile delivery rolls.
Moreover, the logistics network of Flipkart has also witnessed 650 new hubs for only festive delivery in Tier 2 and 3 cities throughout the country, reported PTIWith reference to a business declaration.
Inclusive recruitment prior to public holidays
For its large billion days of shopping festival, Flipkart also scales its infrastructure and technical implementation in 28 states, apart from opportunities for work, the company said in a press release.
This will in turn lead to the creation of more than 2,2 Lakh vacancies throughout the country, together with the expansion of the last mile range and inclusive recruitment in Tier 2 and 3 cities, the company said: “Flipkart's ecosystem-first approach was built for scale.”
The establishment of jobs will also include an increase of 10 percent of female recruitment, and a specified focus on creating more festive vacancies for PWD (people with disabilities), Flipkart said in the statement.
Wider trend in e-commerce
Earlier this month, Amazon India said it had created more than 1.5 Lakh seasonal work options. These jobs have been created in its various segments, such as Operations Network or Fulfillment Centers, Sort Centers and Last-Mile Delivery Stations.
“With the festive season around the corner, Amazon India announced that it has created more than 150,000 seasonal vacancies in its operational network. These include direct and indirect working options at Amazon's Fulfillment Centers (FCS), sorting centers and last Mijl delivery network.”
Amazon also said it has created opportunities for thousands of female employees, as well as more than 2,000 PWDs in his network. The company has the majority of these new employees on board the preparation of the coming party season in India.
