Hanu Man is one of several Tamil and Telugu films released over the Pongal/Sankranti weekend. The numbers show that Hanu Man wins the Sankranti race, at least in the Telugu states. However, according to reports, the makers of the film have filed a complaint of unfair theater practices with the Telugu Film Producers Council. According to Hindustan Times, producer Niranja Reddy has claimed that a few theaters had agreed to screen it Hanu Man on January 12 this had been refused. The makers' statement read: “The theaters did not show the film Hanu Man according to the agreement. The distributors and manufacturers suffered huge losses. So these theaters should start showing the film immediately Hanu Man and bear the loss until now.”
Meanwhile, film critic Saibal Chatterjee pointed out in his review for NDTV Hanu Man a 2.5 star rating. He wrote: “The first hour of the 158-minute film is devoted to setting the stage for the great transition: man's extraordinary leap into the superhero class as the world knows them. Only after 40 minutes of wandering through his light-hearted pranks and comic misadventures does he discover Hanu Man reaches the point from which the essential classical confrontation between good and evil can begin.”
Except Teja Sajja, Hanu Man stars Amritha Aiyer, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Deepak Shetty and Vennela Kishore in important roles.
