Kirti Patel was arrested by the Gujarat police after he had been fleeing for 10 months. The popular Instagram influencer with 1.3 million followers is accused of the honey trap of a builder and demanding £2 crore as ransom.
A FIR was submitted in June 2024 against Kirti and four others. While four had already been arrested, Kirti remained missing. Deputy Commissioner of Police Alok Kumar confirmed that Patel had been caught on the basis of an order issued by the court and submitted in court.
The alleged Honeytrap case has attracted widespread attention because of the fame of Kirti. According to the police, the investigation is still underway.
“In June 2024, a FIR was registered for catching honey, and 5 accused were, 4 were arrested while Kirti Patel had been on the run in the last 10 months. We had arrested her on the basis of the order issued by the court and produced her in court. She demanded a ransier of 2 crores,” told Kumar, “told of a builder.
What is Honey Trapping?
Honeytrapping is a method in which someone, often charm or romance, misleads another person. The victim comes in a situation that can be used later to catch, blackmail or cheat them. They are usually forced to give money, information or another benefit.
A person is made in many Honeytrap -cases to believe that he has a romantic relationship. But later they are threatened with photos, videos or false complaints, unless they pay for money or do what the pedal says.
How Kirti Patel was arrested
Kirti Patel continued to change cities in Gujarat, SIM cards and IP addresses for 10 months to prevent arrest. Interesting is that she regularly posted on Instagram during this period. Last week she posted a reel to promote an online casino. The video won more than 6 Lakh views.
In February she posted several videos of her visit to Mahakumbh 2025. She is a Shree Krishna compound that regularly places videos with his idols.
The Surat police, with the help of cyber experts and the police of Ahmedabad, followed her to Sarkhej, Ahmedabad. They even worked with Instagram to find her exact location.
“In these 10 months her location continued to change, in different parts of Gujarat. The IP address continued to change, just like its telephone numbers and SIM cards. We also coordinated with Instagram to get its location,” quoted NDTV Kumar.
Patel is also confronted with other complaints, including land robbery and more extortion cases. The police will now record their statements in these cases and continue their investigation.
