Despite a 20 percent fine and widespread criticism of his response, Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj appears to have put the incident with Australian Travis Head behind him. Ahead of the third Test in Brisbane (which starts on December 14), Siraj responded positively to the fine imposed on him. Siraj had had a verbal spat with Head during the second Test after the bowler gave an animated farewell. But now the dust seems to have settled. When asked about the fine, Siraj responded positively. “Yeah man, it's all good,” was Siraj's response, as reported by Australian media outlet Sydney Morning Herald.
Siraj dismissed the subject of the fine altogether after being asked if he was angry about it.
“I'm going to the gym now,” was Siraj's quick response, without mentioning the fine.
Both Siraj and Head were also given one demerit point by the International Cricket Council (ICC) after the incident.
India vs Australia, 3rd Test
Following the incident, the focus now shifts to the third Test at the iconic Gabba in Brisbane. The five-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy series is tied at 1-1, with a place in the final of the 2025 World Test Championship (WTC) at stake.
Australia bounced back in style after a crushing 295-run defeat in the first Test. In the 'pink-ball' second Test in Adelaide, Australia swept India away, eventually winning by 10 wickets.
Travis Head was the Player of the Match, with his sensational knock of 140 in 141 balls in the first innings laying the foundation for Australia's huge win.
Siraj is the fourth highest wicket-taker of the series so far, with nine wickets at an average of less than 20.
