New Delhi:
Larsen & Toubro chairman SN Subrahmanyan is located in the middle of a different row, this time about the reluctance of employees to move because of the availability of government welfare schemes. This comes week after his remark of 90 hours of working week led to a widespread debate about balance between work and private life.
Mr. Subrahmanyan, while on Tuesday he spoke at the Mystic South Global Binkit 2025 of the CII in Chennai, said it is difficult to get employees for the construction sector because they are reluctant to travel from their hometown because of a preference for comfort. He said that schedules such as Mgnrega, direct benefit transfers and Jan Dhan accounts probably influence the mobilization of work.
“Labor is not willing to move opportunities. Maybe their local economy is doing well, maybe it is due to the various government schemes,” he said. He added that the lack of work would influence the construction of the infrastructure of India.
Mr. Subrahmanyan also said that India is confronted with the peculiar problem of migration, where L&T 4 Lakh employees require, but recruiting 16 Lakh people due to wear. He also increased the need to revise wages for employees who run synchronously with inflation, and pointed out that the middle -on -theest attracts employees because it draws three to 3.5 times the salary they draw in India.
The Larsen & Toubro chairman had said last month that he wants his employees to work on Sundays. “What do you do at home? How long can you stare at your wife? Come on, go to the office and start working,” he said, adding that he also works on Sunday.
In the debate, many market leaders such as Adar Poonawalla, Anand Mahindra and ITCs argued Sanjiv Puri, advocating the need for a balance between work and private life for productivity. The case reached the parliament when the government told last week that it is not considering increasing the maximum working hours to 70 or 90 hours a week.
About the discourse on the working week of 70-90 hours, pre-budget Economic Survey had mentioned last studies on Friday to state that more than 60 hours a week could have work of overvesting health effects.
The survey noted that spending long hours on someone's desk is harmful to mental well -being, and individuals who spend 12 or more hours (per day) at a desk sadly or struggling or struggling levels of mental well -being.
