Ukraine’s northeastern city of Kharkiv has faced significant destruction, according to new videos posted to social media obtained by DailyExpertNews.
The videos obtained by DailyExpertNews have been geolocated and their authenticity has been verified by DailyExpertNews.
Shot in the Kholodna Hora district in western Kharkov, the videos show a number of buildings that have been badly damaged along Kholodhnohirska Street.
The area is home to a number of markets and shops, in addition to some residential buildings.
Kharkiv is the second largest city in Ukraine, with about 1.4 million people.
Explosions to the North: The damage in the western part of the city is unrelated to a large explosion that occurred in the northern part of the city.
Yuriy Kochubej, a local resident of Kharkov, told DailyExpertNews that at least two major explosions took place in the city on Tuesday evening around 10 p.m. local time near the Oleksiyivka neighborhood of northern Kharkov.
A video published by ТРУХА, a local news channel in Kharkiv, shows a huge explosion and shock wave from the top floor of a residential building.
Suspilne News, Ukraine’s public broadcaster, spoke to the chief of local police, who confirmed that fighting between the Russian and Ukrainian armies had taken place last night near a military hospital in Kharkiv. It is unclear at this time whether the explosion is related to the reported fighting.
