Apple has revealed that the recently launched iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models will support India’s native alternative to GPS, NavIC (Navigation with Indian Constellation). This is the first time Apple has introduced NavIC support on any of its iPhone models.

What is NavIC?
NavIC was developed by ISRO and became operational in India in 2018. It is a standalone navigation satellite system and provides accurate position and timing information over India and surrounding regions. NavIC is designed with a constellation of 7 satellites and a network of ground stations.
Its applications include transportation (terrestrial, air and marine), location-based services, personal mobility, resource monitoring, surveying and geodesy, scientific research, time dissemination and synchronization and dissemination of life safety warnings. ISRO.
