The Indian Premier League 2025, 18th edition of the T20 Extravaganza, will be an accurate affair. There is enormous curiosity among the fans around the season, because the teams will wear a fresh look after a mega auction that took place in November last year. While teams were allowed to be a maximum of six retention, including option to right-on-match, the rest of the team had to be formed through the auction. Some big names picked up enormous sum and the bidding wars made the IPL 2025 all the more interesting. For the statistics, RISHABH Pant turned out to be the most expensive player ever sold in the IPL auction history, because he was chosen by Lunkknow Super Giants for a no less than Inr 27 Crore.
According to a report in Cricbuzz, the IPL 2025 starts on March 22 with a match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challenges Bengaluru. The report said that title defender KKR will be confronted with RCB, who announced their new skipper Rajat Patidar on Thursday in Eden Gardens. Last year's number two of Sunrisers Hyderabad will also play their first game at home against Rajasthan Royals in the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal on March 23.
The report said that the final will be held in Kolkata on Sunday 25 May.
The report also claimed that apart from the 10 regular centers – Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Luckknow, Mullanpur, Delhi, Jaipur, Kolkata and Hyderabad, Guwahati and Dharamsala will also organize competitions.
Guwahati will probably get a few Rajasthan Royals' 'at home' matches on March 26 and 30. Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings will be their opponents in the games. Dharamsala can organize a few home games from Punjab Kings.
Earlier, on January 12, said BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla, who attended the special general meeting in Mumbai,: “IPL will start from 23 March.”
