What should have been a good day for India has suddenly turned into a difficult outing. Needing a win to avoid a series clean sweep, India dismissed New Zealand for 235 in the first innings. In reply, India were 78/1 at one point but lost three wickets to Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammed Siraj and Virat Kohli from 17.2 overs to 18.3 overs. Kohli's dismissal came in the latter part of the day. In an earlier Test of the three-match series, Kohli also bowed out in the last over. Friday was the first time Virat Kohli was dismissed during a home Test.
Virat Kohli was stunned and social media called it a disaster.
Disaster!!
Last over wicket again! Second time in this series for Virat Kohli.

Running out during a test match is a crime. Add the last part of the day!
I am a huge Kohli fan but I have to say this is not what you expect from a senior player like Virat.#INDvNZ #ViratKohli #INDvsNZ #INDvsNZTEST #nzfind pic.twitter.com/lEWA88ktkf

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill shared a half-century partnership but India squandered the chance to end Day 1 of the third Test at 86/4 after Ravindra Jadeja claimed his 14th five-wicket haul and Washington Sundar put in a four-fer waited to bowl out. Zeeland for 235 at the Wankhede Stadium here on Friday.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill had shared a half-century partnership for the second wicket, with the Mumbai opener surviving some anxious moments to score 30 off 52 balls, hitting four boundaries. He and Gill added 53 runs for the second wicket before Jaiswal fell to Ajaz Patel and was bowled while attempting a reverse sweep. India's troubles were compounded when nightwatchman Mohd Siraj was trapped by Patel for a golden duck and Virat Kohli put himself out for four.
On stump, Shubman Gill hit on 31 and Rishabh Pant on 1 as India dug themselves into a hole.
Opener Jaiswal and skipper Rohit Sharma played on home ground and survived some anxious overs before India lost their first wicket with 25 runs on the board. Rohit, set up near the fine-leg boundary by William O'Rourke, was caught off a thick edge by his counterpart as he prepared to play defense to a long ball just outside off-stump by Matt Henry. Rohit scored a run-a-ball 18 and hit three boundaries.
Jaiswal, who was hit off successive balls by O'Rourke in the fourth over, hit Glenn Phillips for back-to-back boundaries down the leg side as he and Shubman Gill took India past fifty and survived some Test moments. The injury absences of Tim Southee and Michell Santner were to their advantage as Ajaz Patel, Glenn Phillips and Ish Sodhi were unable to make a breakthrough.
Gill, who survived a chance when an edge of his bat hit keeper Tom Blundell on the helmet, hit Ajaz Patel for back-to-back fours and jumped out to hammer Phillips for a fine six. He and Jaiswal reached fifty off their second wicket partnership off 58 balls.
