Kadāpa:
In a tragic incident, an 11-year-old boy was electrocuted in Andhra Pradesh’s Kadapa town on Wednesday afternoon when his bike got entangled in an exposed live wire. A 10-year-old, who was a pillion rider, was seriously injured in the incident.
Tanvir and Aadam were on their way home from school when they came into contact with a live wire dangling from a pole and fell to the ground. Disturbing footage was captured on CCTV.
Passers-by rushed to remove the wire and rescue them. Tanvir died on the spot while Aadam was taken to hospital in critical condition.
The incident has left the city in shock and people are now accusing the Electricity Department of negligence.
Police have registered a case and started investigation. Preliminary investigation suggests that a satellite TV wire came in contact with the live electrical wire, which led to the tragedy.
Kadapa MLA Madhavi Reddy consoled the victim's family members and assured them that the government would provide them all possible help.
Education Minister Nara Lokesh expressed shock over the incident and extended his condolences to the families of Tanvir and Adam. Mr. Lokesh also directed officials to provide the injured child with the best possible treatment.
He said that the officials of the Electricity Department should be careful to ensure that such incidents do not recur. The state government would provide all possible help to the family of the deceased child, he added.
