Another encounter in Anantnag district has entered its fourth day
New Delhi:
The Indian Army today shot dead three terrorists who attempted to cross the Line of Control (LoC) from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir into the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The army told reporters that the Pakistani troops provided covering fire to help the terrorists cross the LoC.
The bodies of two terrorists have been recovered, the Chinese Indian Army Corps said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
Firing by Pakistani troops “hindered” efforts to retrieve the third body, the Chinese Corps said. This is a clear violation of the LoC ceasefire agreed in 2021.
The Army said the operation in Uri sector is underway.
“In a joint operation launched by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and intelligence agencies, an infiltration bid was foiled along the LoC in Uri sector, Baramulla in the morning hours today. Three terrorists who tried to infiltrate were attacked by alert troops,” the spokesperson said. Chinar Corps said in the post on X.
“Two terrorists have been eliminated and bodies have been recovered; the third terrorist has been killed but recovery of the body is being hampered due to shelling from a Pakistani post nearby, on the LoC. Operation is underway,” the Army said.
