The man alleged that the company had stolen goods and money worth lakhs.
Moving is never easy. It takes time to find a reliable moving company. But even after that, you might face missing items or unforeseen expenses that can turn your shifting into a nightmare. In one such case, a man from Bengaluru recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his nightmarish incident that led to the “most horrible 48 hours” of his life. In an X thread, the user, Ankit Mayank, shared that he had shifted his house on August 14, for which he had hired a moving and packing company, Halef International Pvt Ltd. He alleged that the 7-member team from the company had allegedly stolen items and money worth lakhs.
“THE MOST HORRIBLE 48 HOURS OF MY LIFE! I was supposed to move on 14th August for which I hired a moving company 'Halef International Pvt Ltd'. But that turned out to be the worst decision and the biggest nightmare of my life,” the man wrote while sharing a video of his messy home.

In the next post, he said that items like a bag worth Rs 8 lakh were missing, while a bag containing Rs 2 lakh, a pair of gold earrings, 2 gold bangles and other important things were also stolen. “The local police and the company manager himself agreed that it was stolen by their team members,” the man wrote.
He further said that the movers and packers had made an “unimaginable” mess in his house. “All the carts, bags and suitcases have been left open in a horrible way. All the important documents and papers are just lying on the floor. Some of them are also missing or damaged,” he wrote.
“A lot of expensive things like imported perfumes (Dior), limited edition – 50 year old pens (gold plated), a few bags are still missing/damaged. Several important documents and property papers are also missing. The damage to a few furniture and household belongings like cupboards is additional,” Mr. Mayank continued.

However, he said the company “shrugs off responsibility by saying only their stall is responsible, not us.” “Such shamelessness despite the fact that we hired their services and those thieves were sent by them and represented the company itself,” the man wrote. He also claimed that the police don't seem to be taking it seriously.
“Both me and my wife @mrs_roh08 have not slept for over 48 hours and are living the worst nightmare of our lives. It is emotionally very hard for my wife as there are few stolen belongings from her mother who has been in coma for the past 15 months. WE ARE MENTALLY AND EMOTIONALLY BROKEN,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, the moving and packing company responded to Mr. Mayank’s post and said that an investigation into the matter is underway. “It is important to remember that every situation has multiple perspectives. Let the police investigation and legal process reveal the truth based on actual facts and evidence,” the company said.

In a lengthy statement, Halef International clarified the sequence of events. It said the couple had not indicated that they were using its services to transport money, jewelry and other valuables. “We had clearly informed them in advance that they had to personally take care of all valuable items,” it said.
The company also accused the couple of unlawfully detaining the team, confiscating their car keys and holding the workers in their home for 24 hours. “Over the course of 72 hours, the couple made increasingly outrageous claims… this couple is clearly attempting to extort the company by manipulating their social media followers and making unsubstantiated claims,” it added.
