South African police investigate 17 dead in East London tavern

Police do not know if there are any survivors from the incident, as it is unclear how many people were inside the Enyobeni Tavern in the first place, Eastern Cape Police Department spokesman Brigadier General Thembinkosi Kinana told DailyExpertNews.

The cause of the incident is currently under investigation and many people have gathered at the scene to find loved ones.

The ages of the victims ranged from 18 to 20 years.
