Bhopal:
The police of Madhya Pradesh formed a three-person session on Monday evening to investigate the comments of the State Minister Vijay Shah to Col Sofiya Qureshi in accordance with an order of the Supreme Court, said an official.
The special investigation team consists of inspector general of police Pramod Verma, deputy inspector -general Kalyan Chakravarty and chief inspector of police Vahini Singh.
The Supreme Court reprimanded Shah on Monday for his “gross” comments about Col Qureshi and formed a special research team with three members to investigate the FIR against him.
De Tophof asked the Madhya Pradesh director general of the police to form a three-headed session that by Tuesday 10 am under the leadership of an IG rank officer, also consisting of a female officer, to investigate the FIR who was registered after an order of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
The order to form the sit was issued by the Madhya Pradesh Director General (DGP) Kailash Makwana with a direction to ensure compliance with the Apex Court Order.
Senior IPS -Officer Pramod Verma is currently placed as Inspector General (IG) Sagar range, Kalyan Chakravarty is placed as a deputy Inspector General (DIG) SAF, Bhopal and Vahini Singh as SP Dindori, the civil servant added.
Shah came under fire after a video, which was widely distributed, it reportedly showed him offensive remarks against Col Qureshi, who gained national fame together with another female officer, wing commander Vyomika Singh, during media briefings on Operation Sindoor.
The Madhya Pradesh High Court punished Shah for passing “scurrilous” comments and the use of “language of the gutters” against Col Qureshi and ordered the police to submit a fir against him for accusing enmity and hatred.
After having drawn serious conviction, the MP minister regrets and said he respects Col Qureshi more than his sister.
