Mr. Singh today resigned to suppress dissidence in the state of BJP against his leadership, because his government is confronted with the possibility of a congress without trust and floor test. The main minister gave the governor his resignation tonight.
But things escalated as a person of the Kuki community went to the Supreme Court and claimed that the Chief Minister had set up the violence in the state.
His complaint was based on leaked audio tires that supposedly from the Chief Minister. A non-profit forensic laboratory, Truth Labs, has confirmed that 93 percent of the audio tires corresponded to Mr. Singh's voice.
The Supreme Court has sought a report from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory about the leaked audio tires.
One of the worst ethnic violence – involving the Kuki and Meitei communities – had broke out in Manipur in May 2023. It had led to more than 200 deaths and left almost 60,000 people homeless.
