New Delhi:
The Uttar Pradesh school, where a teacher earlier this week asked students to hit a fellow Muslim classmate, has been ordered to close pending an investigation, authorities said. The education department has sent a message to the school manager about this.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Education officials will admit the children studying at the school to nearby schools so that their studies are not affected, authorities said.
The accused teacher Tripta Tyagi, who is also the principal of Neha Public School in Muzaffarnagar, was seen on video asking students to beat the 7-year-old Muslim boy. While the student was crying, his classmates took turns slapping him, showing the video. The video also featured the teacher asking the students to hit him hard.
However, the teacher justified her action by saying it was a “minor problem”. A report has been registered against her.
Tripta Tyagi denied any common angle to the incident and said she asked some students to hit the boy for not doing his homework.
“There was pressure from the child’s parents to be strict with him. I’m disabled, so I had some students slap him to get him to do his homework,” she had said, defending herself.
The child and his parents were supervised by the child welfare committee. “My son is 7 years old. This incident happened on August 24. The teacher made the students beat my child over and over again. My son was tortured for an hour or two. He is scared,” the child’s father had said. the incident.
The video has sparked outrage on social media. Politicians from all party lines also condemned the incident as a hate crime.
The boy’s father had said that he will not press charges against the school, but has decided not to send his child to this school anymore.
