President Droupadi Murmu made her love for sports clear when she played a friendly match of badminton with star player Saina Nehwal. In a video released by the President’s office, Ms. Murmu is seen dressed in a lilac-colored traditional salwar-kameez with her sneakers on, playing badminton with Saina Nehwal on the badminton court at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. As Ms. Murmu scores a point, the audience erupts in applause and cheers.
Mr. Murmu has openly expressed her interest and passion for sports as India emerges as a world champion in badminton.

The series features female Padma awardees and aims to inspire millions across the country.
