“Currently we don’t have any maternity patients, but we have many injured local civilians and soldiers. Local people come to us when they need help with food and medicine, and we provide all urgent health care. The numbers are going up and people are coming 24/7, “he said. The head of the hospital added that patients, including women, had come in with serious injuries in recent days.
We had a local woman who died in our hospital yesterday because a Russian bomb was dropped nearby. Some injuries are very, very serious,” he said.
“For the time being, he said, the hospital is thriving, despite normally specializing in maternity care.” with serious injuries and we will not have enough staff if the numbers continue to rise.”
He said the hospital is trying to obtain equipment and materials intended for the treatment of serious military wounds, something the hospital does not normally stock in larger quantities.
We hear the fighting. Yesterday it was a bit better, today it is average, but I think the Ukrainian army is strong, so we think it will be safe to stay and help our army,” he said.
At the same time, the hospital continues to serve its core patients. 20 babies have been born here since the invasion began 10 days ago – all safe and sound.
“They all went home or traveled to western Ukraine,” the hospital chief said.
