A bus crash south of Moscow early Sunday morning killed five people and injured 21, Russian authorities said.
The Russian Road Traffic Inspectorate said the accident happened around 5:45 am local time (0245 GMT) in the Ryazan region.
“As a result of the accident, five people died. 21 were injured,” the agency said on Telegram, adding that two of the injured were minors.
It said the injuries were of “various seriousness”.
The agency said the bus could have hit a pillar of a railway bridge.
The accident happened on a highway near the village of Voslebovo, about 270 kilometers (170 miles) south of Moscow, the agency said.
According to authorities, there were a total of 49 passengers on board.
Police said they opened a criminal case for traffic violations.
