Anything in the shape of a heart — bagels, pizza, cheese, and even Dutch ovens — is the hallmark of Valentine’s Day. Now Ladurée, the Paris-based bakery, confectioner and restaurant, has created its first heart-shaped croissant, a generous, quite flaky beauty with a ruby glaze and florets. It will be sold to the Confectionary in the Bakery’s New York locations in SoHo and on the Upper East Side, $5 (and $5.50 at the restaurant). It’s also part of a Valentine’s breakfast package for two, in addition to pains au chocolat, Valentine’s Day shopping macarons, and rose lattes made with beets and rose powder, $40, available for pick-up through Monday. The pastries want to be eaten fresh; pre-ordering is recommended.
