Telangana Chief Minister Konda Surekha alleged that Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader KT Rama Rao (KTR) could be responsible for the disappearance of his father K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) from the public eye. She further urged the members of her party, Congress, to file a missing case for K Chandrashekar Rao, as reported by NDTV. The comment attracted attention due to the fact that she recently sparked the controversy that KTR is linked to the divorce of actors Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu
Reacting to Surekh's latest attack, BRS leader Sravan Dasoju said, “After Revanth Reddy became the TPCC President and subsequently became the Chief Minister of Telangana, politics and political discourse in Telangana have reached a very low level, derogatory, defamatory, insulting. Humiliating abuses are being hurled at the opposition, especially at KCR and KTR and the other family members,” he said.
Konda Surekha on Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu's divorce
She linked KTR to Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu's divorce and commented, “It is KT Rama Rao because of whom Samantha's divorce took place. He was a minister at that time and tapped the actresses' phones to find out their weaknesses and frame them for blackmail… He made them drug addicts, everyone knows this, everyone is aware of it.'
Several senior actors, including Chiranjeevi and NT Rama Rao, protested against the comment. Meanwhile, Samantha had asked the minister to keep her out of the political fray.
“My divorce is a personal matter and I request you not to speculate on it… To clarify, my divorce was consensual and amicable with no political conspiracy involved,” the actor said.
After widespread criticism, Konda Surekha clarified that her comments were aimed at questioning KT Rama Rao for “denigrating women” and not to hurt Samantha Prabhu's sentiments. She stated that she would retract her comments “unconditionally” if Samantha or her fans were offended by them.
KT Rama Rao has also sent a defamation notice to Ms Surekha and asked her to tender an unconditional public apology.
