Baba Siddique shot dead: The killing of former Maharashtra minister and senior NCP leader Baba Siddique by three unknown gunmen created a political storm in the state. Many leaders, such as Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi and Aaditya Thackeray, viewed the shooting as a 'failure of government'. Meanwhile, Congress leader Atul L. Patil 'believed that the incident could not have happened without political conspiracy'.
Siddique died in hospital on Saturday after being shot by three men in Mumbai's Bandra East. So far, two people have been arrested and one suspect is on the run, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said.
Several political leaders expressed concern over the death of the former Maharashtra minister.
'It is a very disturbing incident. Baba Siddique, a three-time MLA and a Y-security person, was shot dead in Mumbai's Bandra. Is there any law and order in Mumbai? If this could happen to a famous personality, how could it happen? Can common people consider themselves safe?” said Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi
