Mithali Raj posted a photo with her teammates
India Women’s ODI team captain Mithali Raj is all set to lead the team in the upcoming ICC Women’s World Cup in New Zealand. The team has now been in the country for a month and has played 5 ODIs with the hosts ahead of the big tournament. The Indian women lost the series 1-4, but ended the campaign with a win. They also won their warm-up match against South Africa. There are high hopes for the team after finishing second in England at the last tournament in 2017 and also reaching the final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, eventually losing to hosts Australia.
A veteran of several World Cup campaigns, Mithali hopes to become world champion at the end of her award-winning career. The adrenaline should be pumping as the team kicks off its campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday, but the mood in the camp appears to be quite relaxed.
Mithali tweeted Monday to share a photo with teammates.

“One of the perks of being the captain is that you can bomb a perfectly seated group selfie and get away with it,” Mithali captioned the photo.

This is the 12th edition of the Women’s 50-over World Cup. So far, only two teams have won the trophy. Australia has won it 6 times a record while England is a close second with 5 trophies. India has reached the final twice in the past and came very close to winning their first title in 2017, losing the match to England by just 9 runs.
