Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi has once again criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, alleging that he was behaving like a 'bouncer' instead of the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, a position once held by esteemed personalities like Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Sarangi, who was injured and hospitalized after a scuffle in Parliament on December 19, told reporters on Monday that he was now doing “relatively” better and was discharged from hospital on December 28. careful because the stitch on my head has not fully healed yet,” he said.
Sarangi had alleged that Rahul Gandhi pushed him during the scuffle, causing the person to fall on him during a clash between the ruling and opposition parties over the Ambedkar row.
Recalling the incident, Sarangi said, “It happened when we (BJP MPs) were standing at a gateway and peacefully protesting Dr Ambedkar's insult while holding placards.”
“Suddenly, Rahul Gandhi came together with some of his party colleagues and started urging people to move forward. He behaved like a bouncer, not like the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, a post once occupied by big personalities like Vajpayee ji. Sarangi said.
'Rahul pushed Mulesh Rajput'
Claiming that there was enough space next to the gate for Gandhi to pass through without causing disruption, Sarangi said, “He pushed MP Mukesh Rajput, who was standing in front of him. Rajput ji fell on me and my head probably hit the corner of a stony object, causing the injury.”
When asked if Rahul Gandhi had expressed any concern after the incident, Sarangi said, “Yes, he came to me after someone informed him about what had happened. However, he quickly left without showing any genuine concern. I recovered due to the blessings of Lord Jagannath.”
MPs from the INDIA bloc led by Rahul Gandhi staged a protest on Parliament premises on December 19 demanding the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his comments on Babasaheb Ambedkar.
He behaved like a bouncer, not like the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.
