The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday issued a show-cause notice to former Union minister and MP Jayant Sinha, citing his lack of interest in “organization work” and “election campaigning” since the party announced Manish Jaiswal as its candidate for the elections. Hazaribagh Lok Sabha seat, reported ANI.
“You have no interest in organizational work and election campaigns since the party declared Manish Jaiswal as its candidate for the Hazaribagh Lok Sabha seat. You didn't even feel the need to cast your vote. The image of the party has been maligned because of your behaviour,” read the statement from the Jharkhand unit of the BJP, as quoted by ANI.
The notice further said, “As per the instructions of State President Shri Babulal Marandi ji, you are requested to clarify the matter within two days.” ANI added.
Jayant Sinha, son of former Finance Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Yashwant Sinha, had recently expressed his wish not to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The Hazaribagh MP revealed that he had asked BJP president JP Nadda to relieve him of 'direct election duties' so that he could focus on climate change efforts, according to ANI.
“I have requested party president Shri @JPNadda ji to relieve me from my immediate election duties so that I can focus my efforts on fighting global climate change in Bharat and around the world. Of course, I will continue to work with the party on economic and governance issues. I have had the privilege of serving the people of Bharat and Hazaribagh for the past ten years,” Sinha said in a post on X.
The former Union minister expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the party leadership for the opportunities given to him. “.over, I am blessed by the many opportunities provided by the Honorable Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, the Honorable Home Minister Shri @AmitShah ji and the leadership of the BJP. My sincere thanks to them all. Jai Hind!” his message read.
The elections in Jharkhand will be held in four phases: May 13, 20, 25 and June 1. In the 2019 elections, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won 12 seats in Jharkhand, while the BJP secured 11. Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress won one seat each.
