Beijing:
Two crew members of the Chinese spacecraft Shenzhou-13 entered open space for the second time on Sunday to carry out construction work for the country’s own orbital station, Tiangong.
As was the case during the first Shenzhou-13 spacewalk on Nov. 7, two crew members will exit the spacecraft while another will coordinate their work from within, Sputnik said.
The current crew includes Commander Zhai Zhigang and the first mission astronaut Ye Guangfu, as well as Wang Yaping, the first female astronaut aboard the Chinese orbital station. They have been in Tiangong since October 16 for a six-month mission.
Furthermore, Zhai Zhigang and Ye Guangfu will venture outside the Tianhe core module. At the same time, their female teammate Wang Yaping will remain in the cabin to support their operations, according to the China Manned Space Engineering Office (CMSEO).
Previously, the team conducted their first Extra-Vehicular Activities (EVA) on Nov. 7, lasting about 6.5 hours, according to China Global Television Network.
China started building its own space station in April. According to Sputnik, construction work will end in 2022.
