The BJP-led MahaYuti alliance won a decisive victory in the Assembly elections in Maharashtra last month. The coalition of the BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP won 230 seats, while smaller allied parties won five more seats. Meanwhile, the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance managed to win only 46 seats in the 288-seat assembly.

“The formula for cabinet expansion has already been decided,” says Fadnavis
Amid the impasse over cabinet formation in Maharashtra, Fadanvis on Thursday said the formula for cabinet expansion has already been decided and people will get to know about it soon.
“You have spread a lot of news about me and Ajit Pawar coming to Delhi, that it is related to the cabinet expansion. I have seen those, but I want to make one thing clear: I have come to party-related meetings and Ajit Pawar has come for work… so there is no need to speculate much about these things. In our party, decisions are taken by the Parliamentary Board and our senior leadership… As far as appointing ministers is concerned based on the BJP quota. , we will decide it NCP and Shiv Sena will decide the names of their ministers at their level. You will know more about it soon,” Fadnavis told reporters.
Earlier last week, Fadnavis met President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar in New Delhi where he presented them with statues of Shri Vitthal-Rukmini, an iconic symbol of Maharashtra.
On December 5, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis assumed office after taking oath as Chief Minister for the third time. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was also present on the occasion as Fadnavis took charge of the ministry.
