Paris:
French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said on Thursday that when Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened the use of nuclear weapons, he should understand that NATO is also a nuclear alliance.
When asked whether Putin’s threat of “such consequences you have never encountered in your history” was tantamount to threatening the use of nuclear weapons in the Ukraine conflict, Le Drian said it was interpreted as such.
“Yes, I think Vladimir Putin should also understand that the Atlantic alliance is a nuclear alliance. That’s all I want to say about this,” Le Drian told French television TF1.
