Bundesliga leader Bayern Munich will face Stuttgart on Tuesday with a smaller roster as coach Julian Nagelsmann said he had to make some tough decisions to cover injuries.
The German champions are left with only two fully fit midfielders, Spaniard Marc Roca and Frenchman Michaël Cuisance for the trip to Stuttgart.
Leon Goretzka, Joshua Kimmich, Marcel Sabitzer and Jamal Musiala are all injured or ill, while Corentin Tolisso received a painful knock in the weekend’s win over Mainz, giving Bayern a six-point lead at the top.
“Tolisso is injured, but we may have to risk playing him,” Nagelsmann said, without specifying the injury.
The coach had a similar approach to 18-year-old Musiala, who broke a bone in his hand against Mainz.
“We have to wait, but in theory he could play,” Nagelsmann continued.
“And so it is with Leon Goretzka. We will make a decision about his knee depending on how painful it is.”
Kimmich has been ruled out until January as the 26-year-old recovers from Covid-related lung damage and will not play against Stuttgart, which are one point above the relegation zone.
