Former Australian spinner Steve O’Keefe recalls his “most memorable” wicket, which he took on the 2017 tour of India. At the first Test in Pune, O’Keefe returned with identical figures of 6 for 25 in both innings. as India were bowled out for 105 and 107 respectively. In the second innings, O’Keefe had nipped Virat Kohli in the bud after the former India skipper left a pitch, who came back with the corner kicked over his off-stump. O’Keefe recalls sacking Kohli in the Pune test, labeling it the “most memorable” wicket of his international career.
“My most memorable (wicket) was probably Virat Kohli in India. I knocked him over, we played on this absolute dust bowl of a wicket, it twisted and frayed sideways,” said O’Keefe on SEN 1170 The Run Home.
O’Keefe further recalled the wicket, saying that even he was surprised by the throw for trying to turn the ball “to the first or second slip.”
“To top it off, Virat just lets this ball go, he tosses out, and I’m supposed to spin the ball (away) to the first or second slip. This thing just went through the corner, I’m trying to twist it and it’s knocked off the stump, so I’m like, ‘You beauty!’,” he added.
Australia won the game by 333 runs, taking a 1-0 lead in the four-game series.
