Private sector lender ICICI Bank has announced that it will now enable the online payment of customs duties, benefiting both private and corporate clients. Corporate customers can pay customs duties through the bank’s corporate internet banking (CIB) and mobile banking app InstaBIZ, while retail customers pay through the retail internet banking platform.
Customers can pay online by selecting ICICI Bank from the list of banks on the Indian Customs Electronic Gateway (ICEGATE) website, a statement said.
“This facility enables millions of ICICI Bank customers to easily pay customs duties digitally through the ICEGATE website. This is in line with our commitment to continuously improve convenience for our customers by offering them innovative products and services,” said Hitesh Sethia, head of ICICI Bank. (Transaction banking).
ICICI Bank has been successfully facilitating the payment of direct and indirect taxes for more than a decade, the bank added.
On Friday, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) approved the reappointment of Anup Bagchi as executive director of ICICI Bank for three years, while the bank had approved the five-year term.
“The Reserve Bank, in its letter dated January 6, 2022, has approved the reappointment of Anup Bagchi as the bank’s executive director for three years effective February 1, 2022,” ICICI Bank said in a regulatory filing yesterday.
The bank’s shareholders had approved Bagchi’s reappointment for five years effective February 1, 2022 at its annual general meeting in August last year.
Shares of ICICI Bank settled 1.06 percent higher at Rs 793.35 apiece on the BSE.
