Indian batter Shreyas Iyer is in good form and won the Man of the Series award in the recently concluded T20I series against Sri Lanka. During the series, Shreyas, who came to knock no. 3 in all matches, scoring 203 runs as India drew a clean line over the visitors. Indian wicketkeeper batter Dinesh Karthik was impressed by Shreyas’ recent exploits and said the batter had to fight his way back into the team after sustaining a shoulder injury that stalled his progress last season.
“You can’t go past Shreyas Iyer with the way he punched. We need to remember a little bit of what he’s been through since the injury he’s had. The shoulder injury is massive. Were a little hard, didn’t have a great IPL, were chosen for the (T20) World Cup, but did not play a single match,” Karthik said during a discussion on Cricbuzz.
Karthik also said that Shreyas made the most of the opportunities presented to him, especially considering he was on a team.

“He’s been with the team, travels along, scores a Test 100 and goes to South Africa, again didn’t play. So he’s had to fight his way into the team. If he’s got a consistent run, he’s shown why he is Shreyas Iyer and why he is so well regarded. He is such a good leader,” he added.
Shreyas, who recently scored his first Test ton in the two-match series against New Zealand, will be excited to play a similar knock in the upcoming Tests against Sri Lanka.
