Alvaro Vazquez’s first half strike proved decisive as Kerala Blasters closed Hyderabad FC’s undefeated streak with a 1-0 win and also jumped to the top of the points list in the Indian Super League on Sunday. The Blasters extended their undefeated streak to nine games and climbed to the top thanks to a better goal difference than Mumbai City FC. Both teams are on 17 points from 10 games. Hyderabad, on the other hand, saw their eight-game unbeaten run come to an end as they fell to third place, with 16 points from 10 games.
Hyderabad had a chance to take the lead early on when a free kick by Edu Garcia was deflected on the crossbar by Prabhsukhan Gill after the ball was skilfully curled over the wall.
Bartholomew Ogbeche received his fourth yellow card the following minute, meaning he will miss the next game.
Kattimani made a brilliant save in the 24th minute to deny Jorge Diaz as Kerala kept knocking on the door.
As the game progressed, both teams tried to cut open a clear opportunity before Vazquez helped the yellow shirts forward. A long throw-in was intercepted by Sahal Abdul Samad, who pushed the ball back into the danger zone where Vazquez beat the keeper with a sweet volley.

Hyderabad came close at the start of the break via Ogbeche, but the Nigerian shot wide.
In the second period, Hyderabad tried to raise the bar but failed to collect a real chance in front of goal, save for one where Kerala skipper Jessel Carneiro kept his side in the lead with a goal-line clearance.
