Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned while Vice President of India called health reasons on July 21.
However, the opposition guided by the Congrest Party has rejected the explanation of medical issues behind the abrupt movement of the 74-year-old, and claims instead that 'many deeper reasons' play.
The resignation came on the first day of the monsoon session of parliament. Dhankhar had a day full of action in the house of the elderly, as the Rajya Sabha is called before he resigns.
On July 22, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Dhankhar wished good health. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh responded with an excavation at the PM. Rameh said, as he usually does, on X that PM Modi's social media post “had added to the mystery of his abrupt exit.”
Rameh also claimed that “Kisanputra” has even been denied a worthy farewell, while the resignation of Dhankhar is mentioned as “forced”
In social media post, the Prime Minister said that Dhankhar had opportunities to serve our country in different capacities.
“Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji has many opportunities to serve our country in different capacities, including as vice -president of India. I wish him good health,” said Premier Modi in Post on X.
No one else from the government or the party commented on Dhankhar's movement. In fact, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament (MP) Nishikant Dubey Jibed at the congress for her reactions to Dhankhar's “unexpected” dismissal, which implies that the opposition was dramatic.
“Opposition plays the role of Khan Khan in the film,” Dubey posted on X, quoting a news item from December last year, where the opposition parties moved to accuse Dhankar from the vice -president's office and to be accused of being accused of “Partijdan”.
Declaration sponsored by the opposition
In the midst of the criticism, a decision to initiate a notification sponsored by the opposition to accusation against Justice Yashwant Varma, coupled with the dismissal of Dhankhar.
Dhankhar takes the notification of accusation against Justice Varma of the opposition as chairman of the Rajya Sabha reportedly not good with the government. Instead of including the notification in the Rajya Sabha, the government wanted it to be initiated in the Lokha, according to reports in the media, including the Indian Express and the Hindustan Times.
However, there is no official word about this reasoning.
The congress had started collecting signatures two weeks ago, shortly after the notification of three pages of the internal investigation that the then Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna had ordered against Justice Varma, according to a report in Deccan Herald. The notification has the details of the sequence of events, grounds for removal, violation of the public trust and probability and recommendation for removal.
However, the characteristic collection picked up on July 20 Momentum to collect at least 50 signatures – the minimum needed to move a motion in the Rajya Sabha – to initiate the removal of Justice Varma, the Indian Express said.
The government saw this as the movement of the opposition to undermine her own motion on Justice Varma in the Lok Sabha. The government had already collected signatures on the issue in the Lok Sabha, where the minimum requirement for a motion of accusation is 100 signatures. The motion can be moved in both house.
The opposition did not want the reigning NDA to walk away with the anti-corruption board about this. The Indian Express report said it also wanted to raise the issue of Justice Shekhar Yadav, whose removal was sought for controversial comments during a VHP event, together with that of Justice Varma.
63 Signatures to remove Justice Varma
In the afternoon of July 21, Jairam Ramesh announced a Rajya Sabha MP, announced on social media: “Today 63 Rajya Sabha -MPs of various opposition parties submitted a motion of motion to the chairman, Rajya Sabha, Raigne, 1960., Worstice Yasy -Onderzoek -Onderzoek -Onderzoek -Onderoordon -Research -Research -Research -Research -Research -Research -Research -Research -Research -Research -Research -Research -Research -Research -Research -Research -Research -Research -Research -Research -Research -Research -Research -Research -Research -Research -OFY -OUTSIVEVOS -OUSSIGEN -OUTSIVE -OUSSIGENSO -OUSSIGEN -OUSSIGENSO -OUSSIGEN -OFIGO -OUSSIGENING Sabha, far back on December 13, 2024. “
About an hour later, Dhankhar announced in Rajya Sabha that he has accepted the motion of the opposition. This, when Lok Sabha speaker to Birla had not informed the house about the motion of accusation.
Later in the day, none of the government lived the Meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) at Dhankhar, hours before his resignation. Congress Party called the vice -president 'insult' as one of the reasons behind his sudden resignation.
Rameh said in one of his messages on X that “something very serious” took place between 1 p.m. and 4.30 p.m., so Nadda and Rijiju de Bac had “deliberately” skipped.
Justice Varma Cash-At-Home Case
On March 15, firefighters called to the Justice Varma Bungalow in Central Delhi, discovered piles of burned money.
Justice Varma has denied every link to the money and referred to the accusations of inappropriateness against him and members of his family “ridiculous”.
The Supreme Court has set up an internal panel that has recommended the accusation of Justice Yashwant Varma. The report was forwarded to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi – by that time CJI Khanna.
