Jio Revises Affordable Unlimited Prepaid Plan With 300 SMS Benefits

Reliance Jio has tacitly revised its Rs. 119 prepaid top-up plan with 300 SMS benefits for 14 days. The Jio plan also includes 1.5 GB of high-speed data daily and unlimited calling for its entire validity period. With the latest update, Jio has raised the Rs. 119 prepaid top-up plan as the most affordable offering in the portfolio of its unlimited plans, with benefits ranging from voice calls and fast data access to text messages.

As initially reported by TelecomTalk, the Rs. 119 Jio prepaid plan is now available with 300 text messages in addition to 1.5 GB of high-speed daily data and unlimited calling.

The prepaid plan is essentially the revision of the earlier Rs. 98 plan that offered 300 text messages for 28 days along with other benefits. However, it was discontinued in May last year and was reintroduced earlier this year with offers including 1.5GB daily fast data access and unlimited calls for 14 days. The reintroduction removed the benefits of 300 text messages.

While Jio has not yet given official confirmation, details in the web archive suggest that the Rs. 119 prepaid top-up plan was introduced as an increased version of the Rs. 98 plan just earlier this month. The review may have happened alongside the operator’s recent tariff increase that took effect on December 1.

The Rs. Jio’s 119 prepaid plan also includes access to JioTV, JioCinema, JioSecurity, and JioCloud.

Unlike Jio, Airtel and Vi have yet to revise their affordable unlimited prepaid recharge plans with text messaging benefits.

Recently, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has mandated telcos in the country to allow users to send a message for transferring their connection regardless of the plans they have. That move would help users switch to a new network, without having to top up their accounts with a text messaging package or a plan that consists of a text message assignment.
