Lenovo is reportedly working on a new gaming smartphone called Lenovo Halo. According to the well-known tipster Evan Blass, the smartphone will have a 6.7-inch screen with a perforation cutout, a refresh rate of 144 Hz, a touch frequency of 300 Hz and three rear cameras in a rectangular metal module. Interestingly, the LED flash carries the Lenovo Legion logo. Also on the back panel is the text ‘Legion’ in the lower left corner. Most notably, the phone is powered by Qualcomm’s unannounced SM8475 SoC. This chipset is likely a modified version of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 designed for premium smartphones. The company could call it ‘Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus’ or even ‘Snapdragon 8 Gen 2’.

Blass further notes that the Lenovo Halo will get three RAM configurations: 8GB, 12GB, and 16GB along with 128GB/256GB UFS 3.1 storage. The gaming smartphone may be 8mm thick and is not expected to arrive until the third quarter of 2022. Previous rumors indicated that Qualcomm would once again partner with TSMC to build new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipsets. The SoCs made by Samsung seem to have thermal issues. Pricing details remain unclear, though the tipster adds that customers should not confuse the Lenovo Halo as a successor to last year’s Lenovo Duel 2.
The Lenovo Legion Duel 2 launched in parts of Europe at a starting price of EUR 799 (approximately Rs 67,000). It features shoulder pads for a gamepad-like gaming experience and built-in fans with dual cooling for better heat dissipation. It also gets high-end connectivity options like 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 and two USB-C ports. If the Lenovo Halo rumor is true, the phone may be getting similar features. Meanwhile, Lenovo is also working on the Lenovo Legion Y90 gaming phone. It will reportedly get a massive 6.9-inch display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a 720 touch sampling rate. The phone is said to get 18 GB of RAM, which can be increased to 22 GB of RAM with dynamic RAM expansion technology that uses inactive storage.
