New Zealand opener Suzie Bates, who crushed a match-winning ton against India on Saturday, said the White Ferns must ensure they continue to gain momentum in the coming matches. Suzie Bates, Amy Satterthwaite and Jess Kerr stood out as New Zealand defeated India by 62 runs in the first ODI of the five-game series here at the John Davies Oval, Queenstown on Saturday. Bates scored 106 in 111 balls on a “pretty special” day as New Zealand look forward to continuing the momentum into the future.
“I can look back on a pretty special day, great to start the series with a hundred and a win should ensure we keep the momentum going. Pretty proud of the way the team reacted today,” Bates said after the game.
“We’ve played at this ground during the domestic summer, we knew how this wicket plays, we knew they could be under the pressure of the scoreboard – the good thing is we managed to knock them down,” added them to it.
