NATIONAL PROTEIN DAY 2022: When it comes to nutrients vital to the body, proteins enjoy the highest status. It is one of the most essential nutrients and its importance is reflected in the origin – the Greek word protos, meaning first – of its name. Our bodies need protein to grow muscle, make hair, form antibodies, produce vital enzymes, develop connective tissue and much more. February 27 is celebrated as National Protein Day to raise awareness about this macronutrient and the consequences of its deficiency.
According to experts and countless studies, there is a certain amount that one should consume in order to balance the proportions of proteins in the body. According to that amount, a person should consume 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight.
So, for example, if a person weighs 90 pounds, he should consume 72 grams of protein per day, and if a person weighs 40 grams, then he should consume 40 grams of protein each day.
This amount is the minimum amount the body needs to meet its protein requirement and keep the body healthy and immune to various diseases. But it is not necessary that a person cannot consume more than the stated amount.
Protein is beneficial if a person needs to gain body mass and strength. However, in this endeavor, it is also advised not to consume too much protein. For example, in cases where people are trying to build muscle, protein may be taken in more than is recommended or required.
According to dietary calculations, it is a healthy choice to put together a protein package that is divided into meals throughout the day. And that’s how protein should be consumed. So instead of wasting this vital nutrient all at once, consider spreading it evenly over your meals throughout the day.
We hope that we were able to send important information about proteins on National Protein Day.
