'No commercialization near the seven hills'
Chandababu Naidu said about the commercial activities in the vicinity of Tirumala: “Previous permission had been granted for the Mumtaz Hotel next to the area.”
“However, the government has now decided to cancel the approval for the hotel, which was planned for 35.32 hectares of land. There should be no commercialization near the seven hills of Tirumala,” he said.
Earlier, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) had demanded the cancellation of the land allocation at the Mumtaz Hotel in the Alipiri area next to the Tirumala Temple. The trust board of the temple had adopted a resolution during a meeting in November 2024.
“Yesterday we accepted a resolution and asked the government to cancel the lease and we are going to transfer that country for the temple,” TTD chairman had said BR Naidu.
He said that the proposed plan of the Mumtaz Hotel that is next to the temple is “offensive” next to the temple
The TTD chairman added: “Government Land was given to tourism to develop the Devalokam project project. The last government has changed it and gave it to Mumtaz Hotel … It is bording to the temple. It is therefore very offensive to Hindus.”
