Premier League fighters Burnley announced on Monday that they have attracted Dutch international Wout Weghorst from VfL Wolfsburg for an undisclosed fee of 12 million pounds (16 million dollars). The striker, who is 1.98m tall, has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with the club, who are bottom of the Premier League with just one win in 18 games this season. “Wout is a player that our scouts have been strong at for a while and we feel he can add to everything we do at Burnley Football Club,” said manager Sean Dyche.
“His signing is a continuous sign of the development of the club and the team. We wish Wout the best, because he deserves the right to help our group move forward.”
The 29-year-old, who has been crowned 12 times by the Netherlands, has scored 59 goals in 118 Bundesliga appearances.
Burnley lost New Zealand international striker Chris Wood to relegation rivals Newcastle earlier in the January transfer window, leaving them with no firepower up front.
