Jailed radical preacher's father Tarsem Singh on Thursday said he will form a political party in Punjab on the eve of Maghi Mela on January 14.
Tarsem Singh said that the outfit will be launched from Muktsar district of Punjab on the occasion of Maghi.
He said Amritpal Singh will lead the party when he comes out of jail and will take charge with him till then.
Tarsem Singh said he would announce the name and agenda of the party in the presence of the 'Sikh Sangat'.
Amritpal Singh, who contested the Lok Sabha polls as an independent candidate last year, was elected to Parliament by Khadoor Sahib.
He is currently lodged in Assam's Dibrugarh jail under the National Security Act.
Amritpal Singh, who heads the 'Waris Punjab De' group and styled himself after killing Khalistani terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, was jailed along with nine of his associates from the NSA.
He was arrested in Rode village in Moga after he and his supporters invaded the Ajnala police station on February 23, 2023, breaking barricades and brandishing swords and guns, and clashing with police in an attempt to expel one of his aides release from custody.
