New Delhi: India’s Reliance Industries Ltd, operator of the world’s largest refining complex at Jamnagar in Gujarat, has postponed a maintenance shutdown of a crude oil unit at its export-oriented plant from March to September, sources familiar with the matter said.
The refinery previously planned to shut down a crude oil unit at its 704,000 barrels per day (bpd) refinery for about three weeks in March, sources said. The refinery has two equal-sized crude oil units.
The service has now been postponed to September, sources said.
Trade sources said the shutdown has been postponed to take advantage of robust cracks for the refined fuels.
According to data from Refinitiv, Asia’s complex refining margins averaged $7.37 so far in February, the highest since March 2018.
Reliance’s Jamnagar complex includes two complex refineries with a combined capacity to process approximately 1.4 million barrels per day.
Reliance did not respond to an email requesting comment.
