Rohit Sharma-led India will attempt to complete a money laundering over the West Indies when the two sides face off in the third and final ODI of the ongoing series in Ahmedabad on Friday. India led the series 2-0, with wins in the first two matches. While India defeated the West Indies by six wickets in Sunday’s opening ODI, the home side won again three days later in the second ODI by 44 runs. India now has the chance to book their first whitewash win in an ODI series since 2017, when the team claimed a clean sheet over Sri Lanka in a five-game run. India has also not had a win domestically since 2014, when they defeated Sri Lanka in a series of five matches.
Rohit Sharma could join an elite roster of captains if India manages to beat the West Indies on Friday. Rohit will become the eighth Indian captain to lead the team to a series win if his side is victorious in the final ODI.
Rohit joins Kapil Dev, Dilip Vengsarkar, Mohammad Azharuddin, MS Dhoni, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane in the list of Indian captains who have accomplished this feat.
This will also be India’s 12th series whitewash win if they win on Friday.
