Rohit Sharma is back from an injury break and will lead the Indian team in the upcoming home series against the West Indies. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday announced 18-man squads for the upcoming three-day one-day international series and the three-match T20I series at home to the West Indies. Rohit, India’s designated cue captain, will lead the team in ODIs for the first time as a full-time captain, as he missed the South Africa tour due to a hamstring injury. Rohit’s return will be a big boost for the team hurt by the South Africans’ shocking 0-3 whitewash.
Kuldeep Yadav, meanwhile, has returned to the team as part of the ODI squad. Ravichandran Ashwin, who had a mediocre performance in the ODI series against South Africa, has been removed from the selection. Young leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi has received his first call-up to the national team.
The BCCI stated that Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami are both equipped with the series, while KL Rahul will be available from the 2nd ODI.
It added that Ravindra Jadeja will continue his recovery from his knee injury and will not be available for the series, while Axar Patel will be available for the T20Is.

Rohit’s return would mean he’s back at the top of the rankings with in-form Shikhar Dhawan in ODIs and that could mean Vice Captain KL Rahul fall back to the number 4 position.
The three ODIs will be held in Ahmedabad while the three T20Is will be held in Kolkata.
