Sebi has restructured its market data advisory committee, which recommends policies related to areas such as access to securities market data and privacy.
Sebi has revised its market data advisory committee and said the panel will now be chaired by S Sahoo, a professor at National Law University, Delhi and former chairman of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI), according to the latest information from the regulator. . The 20-member committee was previously headed by Madhabi Puri Buch, a former full-time member of Sebi.
In addition to Sahoo, the panel includes CEOs from exchanges and custodians, representatives from various stakeholders and senior Sebi officials.
Committee members include Ashlesh Gosain, Regional Head – South Asia, Bloomberg LP, Mumbai; Reena Garg Scientist F & Head (Electronic & Information Technology Department) at BIS; Kiran Shetty, CEO and Regional Head – India and South Asia at SWIFT India; Ganesh Ramakishnan Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering in IIT Bombay.
Also BSE Managing Director and CEO Ashishkumar Chauhan; NSE MD and CEO Vikram Limaye; Mahesh Vyas, MD of CMIE; Prithvi Haldea, President at Prime Database; and Anuj Kumar, CEO of CAMS are also the members.
The scope of the committee’s work includes identifying segment-by-segment data perimeters, data needs and gaps, and recommending data privacy and data access rules applicable to market data. It is responsible for recommending appropriate policies for access to securities market data.
In addition, the committee recommends standardization of data definitions; data identification logic (use of uniform codes to identify and store data – raw data and derived data) and data validation techniques (single source of truth, validation).
